"Indian Chief" picture designed by OraNell Judd.
As told by OraNell Judd: In 1982 some men came to our Ranch in Johnson Canyon Utah and told us they believed Montezuma's Treasure was buried on our property. (People hunting for the Montezuma Treasure was not new for us.) The men asked if we had any Petroglyphs on the walls. Stick figures of animals were by our door. These made them believe that the treasure was there. Other Petroglyphs were shown to them. Near a spiral was where they decided we should begin digging. It took large machines (which we had) to move the huge rocks and piles of dirt that had fallen from the ledges. Underneath the spiral our sons, Bruce and Robert, found a clay pot with a clay cap on it. inside the pot was the turquoise used in this picture and the two headed snake picture. The large arrowheads found in this picture were also found in another buddle of cedar bark. The smooth stone used for the nose and the one used for the chin. A metal ball with places etched in for easy holding was in this same bundle of bark. In order to preserve this find, these pictures were created. People can see them yet they are protected by the glass and frames of the picture. |
"Two Headed Snake" picture designed by OraNell Judd.
As told by OraNell Judd: In ancient history the symbol of the great Mexican god Quetzalcoatl was a two headed serpent. A mosaic in turquoise was made by a Mixtec craftsman. Looking for some way to use the turquoise found in the clay pot to preserve and display the pieces, the snake was an excellent idea. The turquoise fitted nicely, the arrowheads were a challenge to make them solid, yet individual.
