Old Folks Day, a now largely forgotten facet of Utah rich history, was once a beloved annual celebration dedicated to honoring older people in Kanab and throughout the region. This special day provided an opportunity for the community to come together and show deep respect and appreciation for its more mature members. As we celebrate the International Day of Older Persons, we have the opportunity to revive the spirit of Old Folks Day in Kanab. On October 1st , the Kanab Museum and other local organizations will come together to once again to honor our elders, showing them the appreciation and respect they deserve, just as our ancestors did over a century ago. A complete schedule and list of participating businesses will be posted as soon as it becomes available. |

Once called "the jewel of Kanab", this historic home was purchased by the city of Kanab in 1974 and was restored to its original glory. It's doors have been open to the public since then as a gateway to the past. No visit to Kanab is complete with a visit to the Kanab Heritage House Museum. Free interpretive tours are offered daily.
